Guide of the University Library of the University of Alicante on the Harvard citation style (4th edition 2025) developed by Harvard University and used in the fields of Physics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Economics.

Interviews

There are several types of interviews:

  • Interviews on television, the radio or the Internet.
  • Interviews in written media.
  • Personal interviews or communications.

 

 

If an interview from a source such as a television programme is used, the structure is:

FORMAT


Surname(s) of interviewee, initial(s) (year) Interview title. Interviewed by (interviewer’s first name and surname). [Type of media/format]. Name of channel, date of broadcast. 

 

EXAMPLE
García, I. (2022) La entrevista de Radio 5. Interviewed by Miguel Ángel Domínguez. [Radio]. Radio 5, 16 June.

For podcasts available online, you can also add the URL and the date you accessed the podcast.

García, I. (2022) La entrevista de Radio 5. Interviewed by Miguel Ángel Domínguez. [Radio]. Radio 5, 16 June. Available at: https://www.rtve.es/play/audios/la-entrevista-de-radio-5/ [Accessed: 17-06-2022].

 

 

FORMAT

 

Surname(s) of interviewee, initial(s) (year) “Interview title”. Interviewed by (interviewer’s first name and surname). Title of publication, date of publication, page number(s).

 

EXAMPLE
Trethewey, N. (2022) “Natasha Trethewey: la supremacía blanca es el pecado original de Norteamérica”. Interviewed by Anatxu Zabalbeascoa. El País Semanal, 24 April.

If the interview is available online, include the URL and date of access:

Remember that when conducting an interview you must have the interviewee’s consent if you want to transcribe the interview, e.g. in an annex.

Surname(s) of interviewee, initial(s) (year) Interview title (if any). Interviewed by (interviewer’s surname and first name). [Type of media/format] Place and date of interview.

 

EXAMPLE
Riquelme, T. (2022) Entrevista personal. Interviewed by Miguel De Domingo. [Interview] Alicante, 17 June.

 

If the interview is informal, you can use personal communication instead of interview.
If the interview does not have a title, you can add a descriptive one.
